Process:

Wheat flakes are similar to corn flakes but are made of whole wheat and wheat bran. Wheat Flakes are made from kernels of wheat that are partially cooked through steaming, then passed through rollers to flatten them into flakes. Whole wheat is rolled and made into flakes which helps retain their fiber content along with their vital nutrients.

Recipe: Whole Wheat Flakes Chivda
Preparation time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  1. Whole wheat flakes – 300 gm
  2. Groundnuts – ¼ Cup
  3. Few curry leaves
  4. Mustard – 1 tsp
  5. Cumin – ½ tsp
  6. Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  7. Cashews – 12 nos.
  8. Almonds – 12 nos.
  9. Raisins – 2-3 tbsp
  10. Broken red chilies – 2-3 nos.
  11. 1 Big pinch of hing
  12. Coriander seeds – ½ tbsp
  13. Sesame – ½ Tbsp
  14. Ajwain – ½ Tsp
  15. Chaat masala – 1
  16. Sea salt to taste
  17. Red chili powder – ¼ Tsp
  18. Black pepper powder – ¼ Tsp
  19. Oil – 3 Tbsp

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add jeera, mustard, and asafoetida. Let them splutter
  2. Add broken dry red chilies and fry lightly.
  3. Add coriander seeds, sesame, and ajwain.
  4. Add cashews, almonds, and groundnuts fry them together until they become crisp.
  5. Add raisins and fry again.
  6. Curry leaves can now be added and fried till crisp.
  7. Now turn to add chat masala, red chili powder, turmeric, black pepper powder. Mix well with the seasonings.
  8. Add sugar, salt and mix well.
  9. Turn off the heat. Let it cool slightly.
  10. Add Swadesi Organics Wheat flakes to this mixture and mix well.
  11. Lightly warm the flakes till they turn crispy. Serve it as a snack.
